God IS Sovereign!

Psalm 90:1-2

"Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."

Isaiah 44:6-8

⁶ “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. And who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, Since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming and shall come, Let them show these to them. Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.’”

Isaiah 45:5-7

"I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.’

Isaiah 40:21-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.

“To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."

The word of God speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Jesus Has ALL Authority!

Matthew 28:16-20

"Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Do you really understand the magnitude of what Jesus said to His chosen apostles? He told them ALL authority has been given to Him in Heaven AND on earth. So let me break that down a little more.

All means - 1a: the whole amount, quantity, or extent of 1b: as much as possible

Authority means - 1a: power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior

Wow! Just to meditate on the truth of the authority and power that Jesus has is mind blowing!

Jesus has the whole amount, quantity, and extent of power to influence and command thought, opinion, and behavior of every spiritual and human being in Heaven and on earth! That means nothing and no one can resist His power and authority when He speaks or decides to do something!

Men and women can be resisted, apostles and prophets can be resisted, martyred and killed, but Jesus can't be killed! He died in the flesh once already and now He is alive and reigns forever more! And He is able to be everywhere at the same time and dwells inside those who believe in Him by His Spirit.

Here's a few examples of His authority when He walked this earth.

Mark 11:1-6

"Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.” So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. But some of those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, loosing the colt?” And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go."

Luke 19:33 even tells us that the owners of the colt were standing there and asked the disciples why they were loosing the colt, but when the disciples spoke exactly as the Lord told them, the owners let them go and their own colt too!

Mark 14:12-16

"Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?” And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him. Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’ Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us.” So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover."

Whenever the Lord speaks and commands something to be, it is!

The Lord even causes enemies of the righteous to be at peace with them!

Proverbs 16:7

"When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

Yes the Lord Jesus has ALL power and authority in Heaven and on earth, He has the preeminence, He is above all and over all, there is nothing that He cannot do. Is He on your side? Is He fighting for you? There is no greater ally, teacher, and friend than Jesus.
