Dream 8-13-10 Adding To The Scriptures?

My wife and I were talking about one of the scriptures that are commonly used to validate the 'Original Sin' doctrine (Romans 5:12) and I said to her, "This scripture does not say that all are born in sin, nor does it say that all have inherited the sin of Adam and Eve." When we add  carnal reasoning to scripture we can make them say what we want them to, and then believe the doctrine that we create using scripture. Instead what we should do is leave the scriptures as they are, don't add anything to them, or take anything away from them, and ask God to open the eyes of our understanding so that we might receive the revelation of the scripture from the Holy Spirit, then the interpretation is God's and not ours.

In my dream I was in a classroom and the room was full of students. We were about to take a finals test and I had missed some days, so instead of taking the final with everybody else the teacher asked me to take some make up tests and when I took those I could move on to the final. The rest of the class started on the final and I began the make up tests, the first question was an equation that required the use of a ruler, after I finished this first question the teacher decided to check my work. He took the ruler and checked it against my answer and said, 'this answer is wrong because you didn't add yourself into the equation', my reply was, 'it doesn't say that in the question!', he then replied, 'well you're sapposed to even if it doesn't say that on the paper', then I said, 'ok but if I do that I'm gonna go somewhere else and they will mark it wrong and I'm gonna say that Scott (teachers name in dream) told me to do it.' After this exchange he just walked away and then I woke up.

My interpretation of this dream (which may not be correct!). God was telling me not to add anything of myself into the scriptures and pay attention when man adds something to His word. I also undertsood that I shouldn't do something or agree with someone who is in error just because he or she is the teacher or leader, but seek God's divine interpretation and do what He says.

Luke 24:44-45

"Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” ***And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures***"

Jesus had to open the minds of His disciples so that they could understand the scriptures, and if they had to have this divine opening of their understanding, then so must we!

  1. Each man has a "measure" which he uses to interpret scripture and the world. We ought to ONLY use the measure of the Holy Spirit. He is just, fair and accurate.

Deu 25:15 [But] thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

    THIS ONE IS VERY INTERESTING:

Jhn 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].

  2. Brother Tyrone:

Great interpretation, and thank you, Lord Jesus, for this dream coming to my brother. I have been hearing the same from the Spirit as I look at Scripture.

Additional interpretation, which dovetails and adds to yours, is that the Teacher Scott represents those around us who are always coming up with their own ideas and plans and thoughts. Scripture is not good enough. They want us to approve them, to validate them with our OK. When the Spirit tells us no, they will walk away from us. They will abandon us over these extra-Biblical things. We must not trust them, but hold the Word sacred as received by the apostles from the Lord Jesus.

As our brother Paul said, "Do not go beyond what is written" (1 Cor. 4:6). And later, in rebuke of these type of men who were adding to Scripture, changing it, making a religion out of it, "Did the Word of God originate with you?...if anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command."
    (1 Cor. 14:36,37)

I have received teachings on this lately that are posted on my blog. I welcome you and others to share these.

Thanks for listening to the Lord and His Spirit.
Blessings on all who love Christ and hold onto Him today.

  4. Ever since God started dealing with me 29 years ago, He so dealt with me in such a way that I knew I should not follow any human being. This has been a great blessing in my life, for most people tend to follow someone whether it is a pastor or someone older than them. Everyone I've ever met follows someone else! After all, certainly with age comes more wisdom right? Not so though. The Lord called me into many truths at the young age of 26 that most people who were 90 years old didn't know. It was difficult at times for me to comprehend that I saw and knew things that people much much older than me could not see, this just didn't seem right.

Most people I've met over the years do not have the desire to search as I have. They are not seekers of God but followers of someone else. This has kept many people from learning the real truth about the falling away.
