1st John 5:4-5
"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"
Are you an overcomer? Do you want to be an overcomer? Two questions any professing Christian needs to ask themselves because this world and everything in it is passing away. Jesus promised many blessings to those who overcome, overcome what you ask? The world, the flesh, Satan, strongholds, demonic forces of evil, and sin to name a few.
The Lord desires all His chosen vessels to be overcomers NOW, not just when we all get to heaven! There were saints who were overcomers in the first century church and had reached maturity in Christ.
1st John 2:12-14
"I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one."
We are called to walk as Jesus walked and be conformed into His image, to follow His footsteps and overcome the world just as He did.
1st Peter 2:21
"For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:"
John 16:33
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Jesus told His disciples that in Him they would have peace, but in the world they would have tribulation, and they sure did, most of the original apostles and disciples were martyred, tortured, and persecuted, BUT Jesus told them be of good cheer because He overcame the world, and He calls us to do the same today. Even though Jesus suffered a horrible and shameful death on the cross He was full of joy because He knew what awaited Him after the resurrection!
Hebrews 12:1-2
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
In the book of Revelation the Lord lists many wonderful blessings for those who overcome, and every saint of God can inherit those eternal blessings in the spirit now and in the age to come eternal life!
I am posting a video that does a wonderful job listing all the scriptures in Revelation about overcomers, may we all run the race to win the overcomers prize!
In His Love,

Beautiful!
ReplyDelete(I guess it's not meant for me to comment at your site. Getting comment to post is incredibly difficult...seldom accepts any mode I attempt. I'll try 'anonymous' ...sometimes that works.
Praise the Lord! I pray that you press on to be an overcomer!
